We’ve noticed an odd trend: dental practices that have fantastic-looking logos and even custom photography but with websites that don’t accentuate these strengths of the brand. Dentists who invest in a quality logo for their office should be proud of that branding and do everything they can to leverage it for better practice growth.
Unfortunately, not being designers themselves, they can sometimes wind up with websites that make the practice look cheap or disorganized. At the very least, it’s a drain on what could otherwise be a very profitable marketing effort, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Dentists Should Use Branding Standards
When you work with a designer to create a logo, you should also receive a document that establishes overall brand standards for your practice. These are so important that we include them in our dental website design work if the client doesn’t already have one. A brand standards document will help your website, videos, social media posts, print ads, television commercials, and even your pay-per-click ads stay synchronized with
- The focus of your practice, as well as target procedures
- The look of your brand including logo display standards, specific colors to use, fonts that should be used on your materials, and photography instructions that help in image selection
- The language style for your brand so that writing is consistent in tone and word choice
If you don’t use brand standards, the above variables will be helter skelter, based on the whims of the designer, editor, or writer working on your projects. Websites built without branding standards will tend to look templated, even if they are custom dental websites, because the brand is not respected. The logo will look like it was dropped into a website designed for another office.
Dental patients are usually not going to have any design expertise, nor would they necessarily base their decision on the best website per se, but the professionalism of a website can help the patient focus on the content the website presents rather than having a distracting lack of continuity.

Building Trust From The Start
More often than not, the first interaction that potential patients have with your office is through your presence on the internet. This could happen via your website, social media posts, digital ads, etc. which is why having a solid brand and using it consistently is an essential part of building trust with a patient before they even reach out to your office.
A poor user experience on your website can also impact the patient’s level of trust in the dentist, even if it’s just on a subliminal level. The patient will inevitably click the back button and find a practice that feels more comfortable for them, especially if they’re not able to find what they’re looking for. Or, even worse, if the user experience of your site doesn’t include ample Calls to Action (CTAs), like Request Appointment buttons and your office phone number, you’re likely missing out on new patients.
